Liz Li
Treasurer
I’m so glad to be serving as the Treasurer on NN’s board. I moved to DeBary, Florida from Atlanta in the summer of 2024, stepping into a new state where I didn’t know a soul—but I was ready to put down roots. I wanted to find a way to give back and connect with people in my new community. That’s when I saw NN was looking for a Treasurer. Even though the organization doesn’t yet serve my city, I decided to apply. It started out as a curiosity—how does a small-budget nonprofit support so many people? What’s kept me here is how energizing and professional this experience has been. NN may be small, but the spirit and structure here rival some of the biggest corporations I’ve worked for. It’s efficient, purpose-driven, and best of all, there’s no office politics—just kind-hearted people coming together with good intentions.
I’m originally from China and first came to the U.S. as an international student. Since then, I’ve had my fair share of adventures in work and life, including marrying an American husband. One of our favorite things to do together is play golf—we’ve played over 200 courses across the U.S. in the past ten years! It’s our shared adventure, one swing at a time.
As someone who’s experienced life across cultures, one of the most moving discoveries for me has been how nonprofits are such a powerful force in this country—how many people give their time and money to support strangers, simply out of love and compassion. That generosity continues to inspire me every day. One day, I hope NN will grow to include DeBary—and if all goes well, I’ll still be around, proudly teeing up as an 80-year-old Member.
