We love our Volunteers
Neighbors Network Volunteers bring that old fashioned neighbor-helping-neighbor concept to life. They make sure Members get to their appointments, help organize and unclutter, take care of minor fixes in the home, and more.They love hearing life stories and delight in the relief a Member feels when a task is completed. But their paths don’t often cross.
On a recent Saturday afternoon, Volunteers and Members gathered at a Volunteer’s home to get to know each other.Conversation flowed easily. Everyone left feeling uplifted from being with others who care about making a difference in older adults’ lives. As a thank you for their many acts of kindness, Volunteers were given a Neighbors Network t-shirt.
Membership benefit
One of the benefits of membership is professional shredding offered a couple of times a year. A Volunteer picks up the bags and boxes of papers from Members who sign up for it. They’re taken to a professional shredding company paid by Neighbors Network. It’s one of the ways we bring some ease into our Members’ lives.
We love our Donors
Alana Brenner has believed in and supported Neighbors Network since 2018, when she and her husband learned about it and started volunteering. Recently, she shared her thoughts about why she volunteers, donates and tells others about Neighbors Network.
“I believe in the whole idea of it. It allows people to stay in their home if they want to, assisting them with things they no longer can do or want to do. I admire the organization and that it operates with a tiny staff and all-volunteer Board. I love that it’s so grassroots. It’s like small town, back to basics. Neighbors Network has never lost what it was all about from the beginning. I attribute that to the founder, Annette Kelly, and some of the Board Members who have been involved for years. It’s community oriented and small town-like. That’s what appeals to me. Especially now during such a negative time. With all the news so depressing these days…and yet THIS is positive! It shows the goodness of people to me.”
